The height of His love

For this reason I kneel before the Father from whom every family on heaven and earth is named. I pray that He may grant you according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with the power in the inner man through His Spirit, and that the Messiah may dwell in your hearts through faith. I pray that you being rooted and firmly established in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the length and width, height and depth of God's love, and to know the Messiah's love that surpasses knowledge so that you may be filled with all the fullness of God. Now to Him who is able to do above and beyond all that we ask or think according to the power that works in us- to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.
 ~Ephesians 3:14-21

What happens when we don't spend time daily with the Lord, reading His word and praying to Him? Our life becomes dry like the sands of the desert, our hearts don't know what we are searching for and frustration and confusion surround us. The Spirit of the Lord cannot manifest itself through us. There should be nothing more important in our lives than to be diligently seeking Him. The closer we are to the Lord, the easier it will be to hear Him, to understand what it is He wants us to do, what He is calling us to do. We were created for the fullness of God. Being filled with the fullness of God will likely require us to be stretched. At the very least, it is sure to disturb our comfort. Are we willing to let God explode our comfort zone and expand our capacity for Him? or do we want a God that we can manage?
Whatever it is-whatever keeps us from spending regular time with God- it is a sin. The very definition of sin is separation from God. So no matter how important the activity or how good it seems, if we use it as an excuse to hold God at arms length it is a sin. The longer we go without God presence, the drier and emptier and more frustrated we are going to be.

"The Lord who made the earth, the LORD who forms it, to establish it, Yahweh is His name, says this: Call to Me and I will show you great and incomprehensible things you do not know."
~ Jeremiah 33:2-3
