Practical vs Impractical

Today I have been convicted by the Lord. I have been convicted for my lack of faith and trust in Him. For repeatedly taking things into my own hands instead of turning them over to Him and leaving it all laying at His feet to take charge of.
The Lord spoke to me quietly this morning, and told me that in my life, He doesn't use practical situations, He uses impractical situations to make His glory and His greatness known.
My mind is not able to even begin to comprehend what the Lord can do. Then He brought me to this verse.
"For every animal of the forest is mine, and the cattle on a thousand hills. I know every bird in the mountains and the insects in the fields  are mine. If I were hungry, I would not tell you, for the world is mine and all that is in it. " Psalm 50:10-12
What I have been doing is relying on promises of things to happen from other people, making money this way or that. I am boxing up all of the possibilities. Limiting the possibilities to the smallness of my mind. By doing this, it is impossible for the incomprehensible possibilities to take flight. What I need to do is wait upon the Lord. Wait upon His time. Wait upon His way.
To Be still.......

"The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.”
Exodus 14:14

"Trust in the Lord and do good;
    dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture.

Take delight in the Lord,
    and he will give you the desires of your heart.

Commit your way to the Lord;
    trust in him and he will do this:
He will make your righteous reward shine like the dawn,
    your vindication like the noonday sun.

 Be still before the Lord
and wait patiently for him."
Psalm 37:3-7

He says, “Be still, and know that I am God;
    I will be exalted among the nations,
    I will be exalted in the earth.”
Psalm 46:10

He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Quiet! Be still!” Then the wind died down and it was completely calm. He said to his disciples, “Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?”
Mark 4:39-40

May my prayers be set before you as an incense, the raising of my hands as the evening offering.
Psalm 141: 2

  1. You may be not trusting on the inside, but on the outside you sure look like you've got a MOUNTAIN of faith! I think we're all very excited and inspired by your faith!

    And wondering about the future is not the same as worrying or doubting, so don't be too hard on yourself. You're allowed to WONDER how God is going to do it all, as long as your wondering takes you to the place of joy and not fretting.

    Love you all so much!

  2. Exodus 14:14 is one of my all-time faves....how crazy is that?? In all my studying of Chronicles one of the situations/verses that sticks out to me the most is in 2 Chronicles 20 when King Jehoshaphat is going to battle against the Moabites & Ammonites. He knows that there is nothing they can do but they're focus is on God & God promises that they won't have to fight at all because God will fight for them. Then comes v.22: "And when they began to sing & praise, the Lord set an ambush against the men of Ammon, Moab, & Mount Seir, who had come against Judah..."
    All they had to do was WORSHIP THE LORD! How cool is that??
    My own note that I put in the margin for myself was "What do I have to worry about?? Judah literally did nothing but sing & praise...& the enemies were defeated by the Lord!"
    All that to say...there are a whole lot of incredible promises & EXAMPLES of believers doing nothing but trusting in the Lord & the Lord, in return, fighting their battles for them. So so good.
    So so proud of you! You're such a great mommy & wife (& sis-in-law!) & your faith is encouraging to so many others! Myself definitely included. I love you, D!

  3. :) So happy to have the Scriptures to remind us of God's wonderful promises and His great love for us.
    It's so hard in today's world to stay still. We are trained to work hard to get what we want. Don't be so hard on yourself.... your sweet heart and willingness to follow God shows. I think that you spend MANY times in God's stillness.
